Bernadette “Bernie” Marie (Berry) George, loving wife and devoted mother, died in home hospice care Thursday, September 11, 2025, after a courageous and determined battle with heart disease. Strong until the end, she passed peacefully with her devoted husband of 31 years, Donald “Don” George at her bedside.

Born in Spangler, Pennsylvania on November 1,1943 to Esther Marie (Miller) Berry and Robert Joseph Berry, Sr, she grew up in Franklin, IN. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Indianapolis, class of 1961, followed by 3 ½ years of study at Butler University.

She enjoyed a lengthy career in the insurance industry with employment at Indianapolis Life, Crandall Insurance, and AAA Insurance where she won awards and made good friends. Bernie was a true believer, and she and Don attended St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Indianapolis.

A loving mother and grandmother, Bernie is survived by her loving son, Patrick Michael Cannon (Jean) and grandchildren Nicholas Patrick Cannon (fiancé Lexia), and Emma Nicole Cannon, all of Bloomington, IN. Also, by her two stepsons Andy George of Florida and Chris George (Deanna) of Ohio. She also leaves to grieve two loving sisters, Carol M. (Berry) Long (Dave d. 2020), and JoAnn (Berry) Young (Jim), six nieces and nephews, and six grand nieces and nephews, countless friends and her beloved dogs Rascal and Sebastian.

She is preceded in death by her mother Esther, father Robert Sr, and brother Robert J. Berry, Jr (Judith).

Services will be at Flanner Buchanan - Washington Park East. Viewing is open to all who loved her on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, from 4pm to 8pm. A service will be held at 11am on Wednesday, September 17, 2025.
