Barbara S. Zahn

Barbara S. (DeFur) Zahn, 83, of Greenfield went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 12, 2023. She graduated from Warren Central High School. She worked for BMG (RCA) for 24 years before retiring in 2001. She loved spending time with family and friends, traveling, sewing, shopping, reading, and was an avid Colts fan. She was a member of Brandywine Church in Greenfield. She was married to Paul D. Zahn, the love of her life, for almost 56 years.  

A quote from her memoir “I thank God for this family and all he has given us. I believe we are richly blessed.” 

She is survived by her five children: son, Paul J. Zahn (Julie), son, Kevin Zahn, daughter, Julia (Terry) Jilg, daughter, Patricia (Jim) Alexander and son, Jason Zahn, and one sister, Faye (Howard) Dowers. She was blessed with 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Zahn, her parents, Arthur and Francis DeFur, and her siblings, Roland DeFur and Martha Butcher. 

A memorial service will be at Flanner Buchanan—Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St. Indianapolis, on Saturday, November 18, 2023, with visitation at 11AM and the service at 1PM. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or National Ataxia Foundation.
