Barbara Jean Kemplen-Hawks
81, of Indianapolis, passed away, Thursday December 13, 2012, in Edinburg, TX. Barbara was born April 30, 1931, a daughter of Eugene and Cora Bell Wiley, in New Castle, IN.
Barbara attended school at New Castle. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star of Fortville, Irvington and formerly of Cumberland Chapter #515. She served as the District Deputy in 1972 and the Grand Ruth in 1973. She was a member of Cumberland United Methodist Church. Barbara drove a school bus for Southeastern School District, retiring in 1978.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband William Hawks; step-sons, Bruce (Vickie) Hawks of Bluff City, TN and Carl Hawks of NC; step-daughter, Pam McBride of Denver, CO; nephews, Joe Norris of Hemet, CA and Ron Norris of Jacksonville, FL; three step-grandchildren and her best friend Gloria Jonas.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband Ernest Kemplen; son Don Kemplen; and sister, Katherine Norris.
Friends may call from 4 - 8 p.m., with the Order of Eastern Star service beginning at 7:30 pm Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at Flanner and Buchanan – Memorial Park, 9350 E. Washington St., Indianapolis. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 20, 2012 at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
