Barbara Fay Strauch

Barbara Lykins Strauch, a beloved matriarch and friend to many, passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter, Cindy, on September 16, 2026, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Born on September 4, 1943, in Connersville, Indiana, Barbara was the cherished daughter of Dorothy and Denver Lykins. 

Throughout her 83 years, Barbara embodied love, warmth, and generosity. Her heart was as open as her door, welcoming everyone with open arms. Her family was her greatest pride and joy, and she devoted her life to nurturing and supporting those she loved. Despite her passing, her legacy of kindness and compassion lives on through her surviving family members: her daughters Cindy Rodenburg (Danny), Connie Halvorson (David), and Christy Sawyer (Monty); her sons Damon Bergen (Angie), David Flannery, and Darin Flannery; as well as her 18 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Barbara was predeceased by her parents, her daughter Tia Bergen, her husband Phil Strauch, several siblings and grandchildren, and her best friend Nina. 

Barbara dedicated her career to the food industry, working for many years at the Lakeview Supper Club, followed by a decade at the Antelope Club. She concluded her professional journey with 15 years of service in the cafeteria at IU West Hospital. Beyond her work, Barbara found immense joy in traveling, particularly on cruises. She was blessed with numerous family vacations, creating memories that her loved ones will forever treasure.

The celebration of Barbara's life will be held on September 23, 2026, where family and friends will gather to honor and remember her remarkable spirit. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the GO2 Foundation for Lung Cancer (Lung Cancer Alliance), in Boston, MA, to support ongoing research and advocacy in the fight against cancer. 

Barbara's vibrant spirit and unwavering love for her family will remain in the hearts of all who knew her. Her life was a testament to the power of love, resilience, and the importance of family, and her memory will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Flanner Buchanan - Floral Park Funeral Center, located at 425 N. Holt Road, Indianapolis, IN 46222.

An additional visitation will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM - also at Flanner Buchanan Floral Park Funeral Center.

The Funeral Service to Celebrate the Life of Barbara will follow at 11:00 AM.

Burial will follow at Floral Park Cemetery.
