Barbara L. Wagner, 79, of Greenwood, Indiana, passed away May 8, 2015. She was born on September 28, 1935 in Indianapolis, IN, to the late Jesse and Doris (Gray) Fox. She earned both a bachelor's and master's degree from Indiana University before becoming a dedicated teacher for the IPS, Wayne and Decatur Township school systems. Besides being an active member of the IU Alumni Association, Barbara also enjoyed participating in community and national politics, including serving as a 1st Democratic Precinct committeewoman in Decatur Township.
A goal-oriented person, Barbara enjoyed oil painting, reading, supporting the Colts and IU teams and cooking (many times with an international flair) for her beloved family at every opportunity. Her passions included traveling with her husband, as she twice traveled around the world, and spending time with her family and friends. Her energy, talents and spirit will be missed by the many lives she touched.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Joe; her children, Mark (Cindy) Wagner, Monica Guthrie, Michael (Donna) Wagner, Marla (Darren) Day, Matthew (Beth) Wagner; grandchildren, Brandon, Stephanie, Haley (Wayne), Hannah, Dustin, Madison, Elijah; and a great grandchild, Noah.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, May 14, 2015 at 10 AM at St. Ann Catholic Church, 6350 S. Mooresville Road, Indianapolis, Indiana, with visitation Wednesday, May 13th, 2-4 and 5-7:30 PM at Flanner and Buchanan-Decatur Township. She will be laid to rest at West Newton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the Peyton Manning Children's Hospital.
