Barbara Jackson

November 21, 1935 — March 17, 2015

Barbara D. Jackson Our sweet mama, Barbara Delores Jackson joined her Lord and Savior in the early morning hours of March 17, 2015. Barbara was born to Ernest and Lela (Nee Stewart) Barnard on November 21, 1935 in Fountainette, Indiana. She has now joined her husband, mother, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends in eternity. Barbara married "that Jackson boy", Joe, on June 28, 1952 and they spent a happy lifetime together and are now together in heaven. Joe has been waiting impatiently since August 24, 2014 and probably hasn't let her go since she arrived. We are so happy that they are together - forever and ever amen. Barb is survived by her two devoted daughter, Jo Lynn and Kelly Jackson. Also surviving are two loving brothers, Donald (Betty) and Herman (Christine) Barnard and her wonderful sister Arzella (Robert) Gregory. Aunt Barb also leaves behind a host of loving in-laws, including Betty Lou (Rev. Jack) Whitesell, Helen Marsh, Bunny (Mrs. Charles) Jackson, special cousins Rusty and Claudette Silvis and Cherl West. Secretly, she was everyone's favorite aunt and cousin and there are a host of those to remember her fondly. Barb was an unbelievable mother and wife. She spoiled all of us rotten and most of all with unconditional love. She never spoke a harsh word against anyone and we seriously doubt if anyone had a harsh word to say about her. Barb was always there when she was needed and was an unwavering caretaker to all our relatives, neighbors and the community. Barb was also a Girl Scout leader, a founding member of Eagledale Baptist Church, and a member of the Westside Homemakers. After her girls were grown she was a Hospice Volunteer, administrative assistant for John Rodarmel Company and spent ten years at Mary McClelland Elementary School, Wayne Township, as an instructional assistant. When she and Joe spent their winters in Florida, she worked for Habitat for Humanity and continued her legacy of caretaking for many friends, relatives, and neighbors during her retirement years as well. Jo Lynn and Kelly would like to thank Pamela Miller-Smith for her loving care of our mother. We could not have made it through this without you, and we will be eternally grateful. You treated Mom like your own and she thought of you as "her own". Thank you to Rusty, Claudette, and Cherl for always being there for our family. Horizon Hospice was there to guide us with patience and compassion through our journeys with our parents. A special thanks to Ashley, Brittany, Lisa, Denise, Mildred, and Wanda – you are the best! We feel that you are part of our family. Thank you for treating our Mama and Daddy as we treated them, with love and respect. We are so thankful they were able to finish their earthly lives at home. At Barbara's request, there will be no services. Flanner and Buchanan is handling final arrangements and she and Joe will be interred together at West Ridge Park on W. 21st Street. If you are inclined, in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Horizon Hospice, 252 Meadow Drive #6, Danville, IN 46122, in Barbara's memory. Thank you for all your love and prayers over this last year. We are truly blessed. Flanner and Buchanan-Floral Park is in charge of arrangements Sincerely, -Your friends at Flanner and Buchanan
