Barbara J. Oakes (Frederick) York

Barbara J. Oakes (Frederick) York, 84, Coatesville (formerly of Indianapolis) passed away unexpectedly at her home in Heritage Lake. She was born December 11, 1927 in Indianapolis the daughter of Irene (Barrett) and Frank Oakes. Barbara was a 1945 graduate of George Washington High School. She had worked in the Sundries Department at Wal-Mart retiring in 2009. She had attended Roachdale Presbyterian Church and a Christian Church in Bradenton, FL where she lived for five years. Barbara is survived by her daughters, Cynde Barker, (husband-Ron) and Becky Huser (husband – Bob) ; grandchildren Jerry Gordon, (wife Jill), John Sluss, (Marsha Helton), Jason Sluss (wife – Michelle), Jeffrey Sluss, Tiffany Mitchell (husband – Jeff), Jesse Barker (April Mullins), Jacob York and Kimberly Elsbury (husband – Steve); great grandchildren, Ficher and Ethan Sluss, William Gordon, Morgan and Haley Hensley, Kirtlyn Mitchell, Dylan, Summer and Daelyn Barker, Morgan and Nathan Elsbury and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband Robert L. York and son, Robert L. York Jr. second husband, Denzil H. Frederick and brothers, Frank and Thomas Oakes. Services will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, September 6, 2012 at Flanner and Buchanan-Floral Park, with visitation from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at the funeral home.
