Barbara J. “Butchie” Stroh (Thompson), 80, of Cicero, IN, passed away December 20, 2019, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 24, 1939 to the late Charles Wendell and Mary Carol Thompson in Indianapolis, IN.

Butchie met the love of her life, Jon Anthony Stroh, during their senior year of high school and together they wed on March 22, 1958. They settled down in Indianapolis and raised their four adoring children.

Butchie was talented at all she did. She was an excellent cook, known for the Italian Beef and Eggs Eisenhower breakfast. She also had a deep passion for gardening and was an Advanced Master Gardener. She was known for being able to identify any and every plant along with their necessary care. In 1984, Butchie and Jon moved to Illinois where she worked as a book keeper for Flynn Scientific for 8 years before moving back to Indiana in December of 2000 to be closer to their growing family.

As the matriarch of the family she was the bridge over troubled waters and was an immense source of support and love to each of her family members and friends. She was deeply loved by all who knew her.

Butchie is survived by her beloved husband of nearly 62 years, Jon Anthony Stroh; children, Bryan Allen (Priscilla) Stroh, Toni Lynn (Ken) Mason, Deanna Leigh Stroh (Mike) Pitman, and the late Philip Jay (Pame) Stroh; 14 adoring grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and siblings Ruth Tetrick, Sue McFarland, Charles Thompson, and Michael Thompson.

The family would like to extend their love and appreciation for the staff at The Legacy at Prairie Lakes, for all of their care and support over the years.

A celebration of life will be held at 1:30PM on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46229.
