Barbara Jean Hartman

Barbara Jean Hartman ( Buckethead ), 72, of Indianapolis Indiana, passed away on September 18, 2026. Barbara was born on September 21,1953 in Indianapolis to Chester Taylor and Aline Martin. 

Barbara attended Decatur Central High School, she worked at Days Inn as a housekeeper, Eastside Healthcare as an Aide then was promoted to an Activities Director after attending University of Indianapolis, with her final work career being at Coca Cola Bottling Company where she worked on the production line. 

Barbara was the beloved wife of Frederick Frank Hartman Jr , they shared 54 years together , married for 52. 

Barbara was strong-willed, energetic, fun , caring, giving, loving, outspoken and always placed her family first. She enjoyed being outside to work in her flowerbeds , interacting with wildlife while camping, traveling , shopping, dancing and cooking. She also loved collecting Denim Days , Mary Moo Moo’s, and lifelike baby dolls from Ashton Drake and Bradford Exchange. Barbara loved to dress up, accessorize and bring her own special sparkle wherever she went. Her favorite flower is a yellow rose , a perfect reflection of the warmth and brightness she brought to her family's lives. Barbara also dearly loved her beloved Chow Chow, Tomicak. Her love , personality, and unforgettable presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. 

She was a devoted mother to Stephen Elliott, Shannon ( David ) Howe, Lisa ( James ) Hartman- Hager and step daughter Shelly ( Steve ) Firestone, all of whom survive her, She was also a proud and loving Nana of 13 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. 

Visitation will be held on Wednesday September 30, 2026 at Flanner Buchanan Memorial Park. Family visitation will be 10:30am to 11:30am , followed by public visitation 11:30am to 3:00pm. Funeral services begin at 3:00pm and conclude at 3:30pm.
