Barbara E. Diehl

Barbara E. Diehl of Carmel, Indiana, passed away on October 17, 2026, at age 79. Born in Indianapolis on November 2, 1946, she was the daughter of James and Georgie (Deahl) Stovall.

Barbara graduated from Ball State University and earned a master’s degree from the University of St. Francis. During her teaching career, she taught middle school home economics, fifth grade, and, later, middle school science.

An active member of the Assistance League of Indianapolis, Barbara enjoyed golf, crafting, and spending time with her family. She especially loved raising monarch butterflies and sharing her knowledge and enthusiasm with others.

On July 26, 1969, Barbara married Gordon Diehl. They shared 57 years of marriage filled with love and cherished memories.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Gordon; her children, Tiffany Diehl and Jason (Angelica) Diehl; her grandchildren, Wyatt and Logan Diehl; her beloved fur baby, Daisy; and her brothers, William “Billy” Stovall and David Stovall. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, James “Jimmy” Stovall Jr.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Barbie’s honor may be made to the charity of your choice.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at Flanner Buchanan Hamilton Memorial Park, Prairie Waters, 4180 Westfield Road, Westfield, Indiana 46062. Visitation will be held from noon until the service. Burial will follow at Hamilton Memorial Park Cemetery.
