Barbara Jean (Davis) Bowers, 67 May 13, 1948-Aug. 15, 2015
Barbara Jean (Davis) Bowers of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away, with family by her side, on August 15, 2015. Barbara was born on May 13, 1948 in Indianapolis, Indiana. That year also marked the Davis' move into their treasured home on 3rd street in Beech Grove where Barbara and her five siblings would grow up. She attended Holy Name of Jesus grade school and graduated from Our Lady of Grace Academy in 1966. College came later for Barbara, as she took time to be a mom to two children; taking on rolls like Girl Scout leader, Cub Scout leader and cheer coach. Barbara was the most athletic and competitive of the six Davis kids and you could often find her on a volleyball or tennis court. She worked for a time at Farm Bureau Insurance, HR Block and McMinn County High School before being accepted to the University of Tennessee, Knoxville School of Art in 1988. It had been a lifelong dream to pursue her artistic talents and college allowed her to study abroad in London and travel across Europe. She graduated from UT in 1992 and went on to work for RSI Inventory Service and ADESA Corporation. Barbara was an incredibly gifted artist and is remembered as a loving sister, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her daughter Bibianna Stutsman and husband Steve, son Bill Bowers and wife Laurence, grandchildren Samantha and Dylan Stutsman, brothers and sisters: Carolyn Monaghan and husband Pat, Jim Davis and wife Cecelia, Susan Davis, Mary Ruth Haller, John Davis and wife Mary Catherine; along with nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 21 at Flanner and Buchanan, Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, Indiana. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.; a funeral service will follow. In lieu of flowers please give to the charity of your choice in Barbara's name.
