Barbara Bilby

Barbara S. Bilby, 84, of Indianapolis, died Tuesday, September 20, 2011. She was born in Blackford County, Indiana, the daughter of Wilbur and Agnes (Peterson) Cochran. She was married to Osborn D. Bilby who preceded her in death on March 28, 2006. Barbara received her Bachelor's degree from Ball State University. She worked as a microbiologist at Eli Lilly before retiring in 1956. Barbara was a member of the Hillcrest Garden Club, Shamrock Garden Club, Indiana Gourd Society, and Delta Theta Tau Sorority. She was a flower show judge and had an extensive flower garden of her own. She worked extensively in a variety of arts and crafts. Barbara is survived by her daughter, Janice L. Bilby, and brother, Wendell (Ellen) Cochran and their family. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Nancy. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 1, 2011, at Northminster Presbyterian Church, 1660 Kessler Boulevard East Drive. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Ball State University.
