Barbara Ann Montgomery

88, of Indianapolis, passed away Friday, September 23, 2016. Barbara was born in Indianapolis, IN on April 8, 1928 to the late, Ernest C. and Thora I. (Colvin) Reno.

Barbara, a homemaker, was born to be a mother. She was caring and compassionate, nurturing and creative. She had an eye for detail and was meticulous in all that she did. Her creative nature showed in her sewing, crocheting, decorating, and jewelry making projects. She also enjoyed activities such as golfing and fishing. Mostly though, Barbara loved spending time with her family, whom she adored. After raising her children, she was very active in raising her grandchildren as well- always present and supportive of any activity they chose.

Barbara was preceded in passing by her parents; husband of 64 years, Roy D. Montgomery; daughter, Stephanie A. Hawk; grandson, Benjamin; and two brothers, Ernest C. Reno, II and Dennis K. Reno.

She is survived by her son, Jeff Montgomery (Linda); daughters, Rebecca J. Sullivan (Michael) and Laura Barnes; sisters: Shirley I. Heidenreich and Carol J. York; son-in-law, Danny Hawk; eleven grandchildren: Steve, Stacia, Danyetta, Dennis, Amanda, Danielle, Nathaniel, Ashley, Nathan, Corey and Sarah; twelve great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.

Friends may call from 4pm until 8pm on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Flanner and Buchanan- Washington Park East, where her funeral service will be held on Friday, September 30th at 11am. Burial to follow in Washington Park East Cemetery.
