Barbara A. Elkins, born on June 14, 1956, in Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2026. A devoted mother, proud daughter, and cherished friend, Barbara filled the lives of those around her with joy and laughter.
Raised in the heart of Indianapolis, Barbara attended the local schools and went on to earn her Associate's Degree. For many years, she lent her talents as a Database Analyst for the State of Indiana, where she earned the respect of her colleagues and contributed to the betterment of her community.
Barbara held a deep passion for music, particularly country and southern rock, which accompanied many joyful moments in her life. She found pleasure in line dancing and shared countless spirited evenings with friends on the dance floor. An avid Kansas City football fan, she enjoyed spirited discussions about her beloved team and celebrated their victories with unwavering enthusiasm.
Beyond her professional achievements, Barbara had a profound dedication to serving others. As a devoted volunteer at the Compassion Center, she gave her time and kindness to those in need, impacting many lives with her compassionate spirit.
Barbara is survived by her beloved daughters , Summer and Heather Longworth, her son, David Longworth, brothers, Chuck and John Elkins her cousin, Susan Hannell and grandchildren Elizabeth, Luke, Abby, Dakota, Asher, Ryder and K'Layne along with 6 great grandchildren. Each of them will carry forward her legacy of love and laughter. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents: Harold Elkins and Fairy Ballard
A celebration of Barbara's life will be held at a future date yet to be announced. Family and friends are warmly invited to join in honoring her remarkable life and the many memories shared.
