Audrey Michels
93, of Indianapolis, passed away April 11, 2014. Audrey was born on June, 23, 1920 in Goshen, IN. She was a graduate of Jordan College of Music and Butler University. She gave private piano lessons for many years. She taught music at Pike and Washington Township schools. Later Audrey was a librarian at Allisonville School, where she was instrumental in developing one of the first school media centers as part of a national grant project. In retirement she resided outside Martinsville, where she taught classes at the YMCA. She was a member of St. Edward the Confessor Church in Indianapolis and also attended the Church of St. Margaret of Scotland. She was the widow of Harry Michels. Survivors include her daughter, Diana O'Brien of Kansas, son Geoffrey Michels of Indianapolis, brother Paul Harrington, eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Monday, April 14, 2014 from 6 to 8 pm at Flanner and Buchanan-Broad Ripple. Services will be Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at 11 am at Flanner and Buchanan-Broad Ripple. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
