Arthur R. "Sonny" McPherson, 78 of Indianapolis passed away at home on March 24, 2014. He was born May 22, 1935 in Longmont, CO to Roy and Junia McPherson.
After graduating high school, Art served in the US Air Force from 1956 to 1960. He worked for Mayflower Moving and Storage and eventually, he and his wife Anita became agents for Wheaton Van Lines. He was the Traffic Manager for the east coast. Art was an avid golfer. He toured with the Blind Golfers Association where he was sponsored by Powerbilt. He also enjoyed playing cards. He was blind but he certainly wasn't handicapped. He loved the Indiana Pacers and the Indianapolis Colts. His greatest love was his family. His daughters were perfect and his grandkids were the light of his life. They could do no wrong in his eyes. He was so proud of their accomplishments and bragged about them constantly.
Surviving to cherish his memory is his wife of 57 1/2 years, Anita, his daughters, Terri McCord, Dawn (Kevin) Toole and Michelle (Jack) Wilbon, sisters, Shirley Johnson, Juanita Hale, Marylin Preston, 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Connie Price and son-in-law, Dennis McCord.
