Arthur E. "Gene" Marler

Arthur “Gene” Marler, 104 of Carmel, IN formerly of South Bend, passed away Monday, December 2, 2024. Gene was born June 18, 1920 in Jasonville, IN to the late Arthur and Alice Marler. He was a 1939 graduate of Jasonville High School and was a WWII Army veteran serving from 1942-1946.

 Gene retired from South Bend Lathe after 45 years. He began his career as a machinist and retired from their labs. He was a former member, deacon and trustee of the Immanuel Baptist Church, Mishawaka, IN and was also a former member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church, South Bend, IN. He was currently attending Christ United Methodist Church, Westfield, IN

 Gene was a member of South Bend Masonic Lodge #45 for 82 years and the Scottish Rite.

 A private family service will be held Monday, December 9 at Flanner Buchanan-Carmel.

 Gene married Eleanor Jewell May 14, 1948, who survives, recently celebrating their 76th anniversary. Other survivors include; daughter, Rebecca (husband, Greg) Turean; grandchildren, Eleanor (husband, Drew) Walters and Christopher (wife, Katie) Turean; great grandchildren, Sydney, Chloe and Nolan Turean, Daniel and Meredith Walters; brother-in-law, Guy Downer. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Daniel Turean and sisters, Kathryn Wetnight and Georgia Gentry.
