Arlean Esther Garrison,
88, of Indianapolis, passed away on Friday, February 1, 2013. She was born on February 8, 1924 in Whitefish Bay, WI to the late Arnold and Esther (Sodergren) Lemke. Arlean moved to the Indianapolis area and was a Roller Derby Star, joining the league at age 17 with special permission. She was a graduate of Butler University, receiving both her BA and MA in Education. Arlean worked for IPS as a 6th grade teacher, retiring in 1987. She was an avid gardener, always tending to her perennials; she also enjoyed swimming and photography. Arlean is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Richard Garrison; sons, Louis Garrison, David (Shelia) Garrison, Robert (Linda) Garrison, Joseph (Meg) Garrison, Christopher Garrison and Richard Garrison. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Garrison will be held at Flanner and Buchanan- Speedway on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at 10am. Visitation will take place Monday evening from 5 until 8pm, also at the funeral home. Entombment will be in West Ridge Park Cemetery.
