Archie R. Woodcock

Archie R. Woodcock, age 78, of Indianapolis, Ind., died on Friday, December 23, 2011 at IU Health Methodist Hospital. Born on October 16, 1933 in Morgantown, KY, he was the son of the late Johnnie and Lottie (Sherman) Woodcock. He worked at Allison Transmission as a machinist for 20 years. Mr. Woodcock served in the US Army and upon his discharge he relocated to Indianapolis. He is survived by his wife, Corrine Woodcock of Indianapolis; children, Vickie (Jack) Hatfield of Bloomfield, Ind., Danny (Cheryl) Woodcock of Indianapolis, Barbara "Susie" (William) Van Tassel of Worthington, Ind., Theresa "Tress" Woodcock-Rice of Indianapolis; brother, James L. (Jewel) Johnson of Indianapolis; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Woodcock of Morgantown, KY; 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; friend and companion, Dixie Woodcock. He was preceded in death by his parents; 7 brothers and 4 sisters. Visitation will be on Thursday, December 29, 2011 from 4p-8p at Flanner Buchanan-Floral Park, 424 N. Holt Rd., Indianapolis. Funeral service will be Friday, December 30, 2011 at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Pastor Lannie Caldwell of Drexel Gardens Apostolic Tabernacle officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Park Cemetery with military honors being provided by the Marion County Burial Team. Donations in Mr. Woodcock's memory may be made to the donor's choice of charity.
