Anthony V.G. Jackman 86, Carmel, passed away on May 14, 2013. Anthony was born in Lincolnshire England on April 25, 1927, to parents, Percy W. and Dorothy (Smith) Jackman. Anthony was educated as an engineer in England specializing in design and development. He was a past member of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) and the Institute of Electrical Engineers (IEE). During his engineering career he worked for Ruston and Hornsby in Lincoln, England; Orenda Engines in Toronto, Canada and General Motors in Detroit, MI and Indianapolis, IN. He was a member of Orchard Park Presbyterian Church for over 42 years. Anthony also took pride in his role as the commissioner of the Indianapolis youth travel hockey team. In his free time he enjoyed woodworking, tennis, climbing, traveling, and spending quality time with his family. Anthony was preceded in death by his parents, and will be lovingly missed by lovely wife of almost 60 years, Irene "Mavis" Jackman; sister, Yvonne (Victor) Gane; children, Kathleen Jackman, Valerie Jackman, Alistair (Kay) Jackman, and Geoffrey (Cathleen) Jackman; grandchildren, Grant and William. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Orchard Park Presbyterian Church. A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2013 in Orchard Park Presbyterian Church 1605 E. 106th St., Carmel, IN 46280.
