On Sunday, September 29th Anthony “Tony” Morris Smart of Carmel, IN, peacefully accepted God’s calling, into his waiting arms, surrounded by his loving family, after a hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer. Born to the late Lawrence Franklin Smart Sr and Virginia Bartlett Smart on December 31, 1961.
He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Kathryn Louise Smart, and his 4 boys Tyler, Ryan, Brandon, and PJ. He is also survived by his brother, 4 sisters and a plethora of nieces and nephews.
Tony graduated from DePauw University in 1984 with a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in economics.
Tony was involved in scouting throughout his life and earned the rank of Eagle Scout at the age of 17. Tony continued to serve scouting through the years bringing his family up through the ranks. Some of his greatest adventures were taking his family to Philmont Scout Ranch, he could tell you every location they stopped on each trek. He served in multiple local, district, and council positions. Tony worked over 13 years at One America Securities, as Vice President, Director of Business Technologies. He had a servant’s heart and his joys in life were the relationships he formed with others. Be that through Monday night football, interactions at work, working out at 5am with friends, game nights or relaxing around the campfire with family and friends. Tony did all he could to put a smile on anyone’s face and would always challenge you to “Make it a Great Day”.
