Indianapolis

Anthony Maxey was born July 3, 1962. He was the beloved son of Leroy Maxey Sr. and Deloris Maxey.  Andy, as he was affectionately known, was a joy to his parents, siblings, family and friends.

Andy was a lifelong resident of Indianapolis, Indiana.  He attended and graduated from Indianapolis Public School - Cold Spring School.  After school Andy transitioned to living at St. Vincent New Hope.  Andy next lived in St. Vincent New Hope group home. Andy loved attending church services while living there.  He would often sing along as we sang his favorite song, “Yes Jesus Loves Me”.   Andy participated in the Special Olympics of Indiana.  He also worked at a Northside eatery known as Neon Johnnys until it closed, where he was loved by the owners and staff.  Andy loved all music, he especially loved listening to Motown artists.  In the later years of his life Andy transitioned to a skilled care nursing facility.  While at that facility Andy was crowned Prom King during their King and Queen activities.  Andy was a joy to everyone he met.

Andy departed this earthly life on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at the age of 61. Andy was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Rodney L. Maxey I.  He will be greatly missed.

Andy leaves to cherish his memory, a brother, Leroy Maxey Jr. (Lorri) and sisters; Valerie Maxey-Hodgens and Stephanie Maxey-Boyd (Samuel); sister-in-law Debra Maxey; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at Flanner Buchanan - Washington Park East (10722 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46229) from 1 pm - 3 pm with funeral services following at 3 pm. Andy will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery following services.
