Annie M. Webb

November 6, 1928 — November 15, 2024

After living a long, wonderful life, Annie M. Webb peacefully transitioned from her earthly home on November 15, 2024. She was born to James R. and Dorothy M. (Porter) Franklin in Christiansburg, Virginia on November 6, 1928. She was the first of three children born to this union. Annie was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, William H. Franklin, her husband, Carnett Webb Sr., sons, Carnett Webb Jr., and Steven Webb.

Annie grew up in Venolia, Pennsylvania, where she and her mother worked together cooking and cleaning for others. It was during this time that she learned life-skills, which led to an unbreakable bond between the two and Annie’s adoration for her mother. Annie’s family and friends affectionately called her by her nickname, Bobbie.

After high school, Annie studied office administration and file clerking at Anderson College. She later went to work for R.C.A. manufacturing plant that produced television components for 25 years until the plant’s closure in 1995.

Annie married the love of her life, Carnett Webb Sr., in Ohio in April 1951. Three children, Carnett Jr., Steven, and Derrick, were born to this marriage. She was all about her three boys and family. She is fondly remembered for taking her children to amusement parks and frequent trips to Detroit, MI to visit her family. Life was not always easy, but her faith in Christ saw her through. She remained faithful and dedicated to Carnett until his death in 1996.

Annie definitely believed in God. She accepted Christ at an early age, which was the beginning of her strong, deep convictions that she carried throughout her life. She instilled these convictions in “her boys”, providing them a solid foundation of faith in Christ. When the boys were little, she’d often have them join her in watching Oral Roberts. She attended Eastside Baptist early on. Later, she became a member of Calvary Temple now known as Caring Place, where she actively participated in the Connect Groups designed to foster meaningful relationships, build community through bible studies, facilitate life-sharing, and other activities that ultimately lead to a stronger relationship with Christ.

Annie developed gifted hands often knitting mittens, hats, and quilts for others. She also loved playing bingo and going bowling, which is evidenced by her participation in her bowling league for a number of years. She was a very caring, sweet person and known for her infectious beautiful smile! She always had kind words to say to others. Oh, let’s not forget…she was very fashionable and had a great sense of style…just like her mother. Purple was her favorite color. She was an excellent cook making tons of caramel cakes, chocolate cakes, sweet potato pies, peach cobblers, etc. As most good moms do, she taught her boys how to cook and make them as well. Speaking of sweets, she loved her some Pepsi. Annie not only loved her immediate family, she deeply loved her brothers and their wives, nieces, and nephews. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a special delight.

Annie leaves to cherish her memory devoted son Derrick Webb, grandson Raymond Webb, granddaughters Tasha Webb and Angie Webb, grandchildren she adopted as her own Dominique Chowning and Lesley Chowning, (9) great-grandchildren, brother James (Liz) Franklin, sister-in-law Vadie Franklin and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
