Annette Turnbull

February 23, 1956 — April 3, 2024

Indianapolis

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved, Annette Turnbull.

Annette passed away on April 3, 2024, at the age of 68 in Indianapolis, Indiana after a long haul of illness. Annette was born in the beautiful Virgin Islands on February 23, 1956, to the late Rossanah A. Turnbull and the late Charles F. Turnbull. She is survived by several siblings: Doreen Faulkner, Elmore Stout, Ottley Titley, Ludence Turnbull, Tranzanda Turnbull, Rusten Turnbull and Leynette Turnbull. Her siblings she is preceded by Noel Esdale, Elroy Frazer, Leroy Turnbull, and Eston Turnbull A.K.A. Winston.

Annete graduated from Charolotte Amalie High School in St. Thomas USVI and later attended college at the University of the Virgin Islands. She later became a teacher’s aide, and she also worked as a pharmacy technician before she relocated to Indianapolis, Indiana in 1989 where she settled in as a resident. In Indiana, she worked in various industries of employment, but the most prominent position of her work in Indianapolis was as a CNA which she enjoyed providing care for her patients.

Annette enjoyed knitting, listening to certain types of music, gardening, and collecting ornaments to name a few, and she loved spending quality time with her family. Purple was Annette’s favorite color. During her formative years to early adulthood, Annette enjoyed singing and she participated in the Methodist Church’s Choir as a lead singer with a beautiful voice like a songbird. From a very young age, Annette exhibited a positive attitude towards the existence of life, and she was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. She carried on that positive attitude throughout her life with a cheerful spirit, and she reflected her positive attitude unto her children. She encouraged them to never give up when things get tough for them if they can’t accomplish a goal or task. She always coached them to try again and again, and maybe the timing is wrong. She taught them that “Where there is a will there is a way” and never give up, and the main prize is at the horizon.

Annette gave birth to five children, and she is survived by four of her children: Tyrone James, Kayrone James, Cerone Paul, and Jayrone Turnbull. She is preceded by one of her beloved sons, Derone Lake. She is survived by six grandchildren: Landis James, Solei James, Serenity James, Centeon Paul, Cedrea Paul, and Cenijah Paul. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Nieces are Arlene Faulkner, Shanda Faulkner, Shanika Turnbull, Kishma Faulkner, Tequilla Hinds, Carla Hinds, Tranzanda A. Turnbull, Jenifer Turnbull, Zenobia Turnbull, Destiny Turnbull, JoAnn Turnbull, Marlene Turnbull, and several more to mention.

Annette’s great nieces are Jai’da, Justyce, Levaeh, Olevia, Amelia, Deja, Kimber, Alayla, Ayva, Jeh’liah, Loyalty, Kya, and many more to mention. Her surviving great nephews are Jahzanda Jr., Dominick, Tyrell, Levion, Levach, Nyzimba Jr., Cruze, Jonathan, and Tyrell.  Her surviving nephews are Frederick Faulkner, Whittney Faulkner, Ronnie Titley, Kevin Titley, Jermain Turnbull, Nyzimba A. Turnbull, Jahzanda Williams, Naheem Mason, Winsted C. Turnbull, Messiah Meade, and Akkeem Hinds. She is preceded by Jerome Turnbull. She is survived by many cousins; Yevonne Abedenego, Cicil Potter, Natasha Charles, and many more relatives who are appreciated but not listed here.

Annette is survived by several in-laws. Mahogany James (wife of son Keyrone James), Kurt Frank (spouse of sister Leynette Turnbull), Cadi Mason (wife of nephew Naheem Mason). As her soul rests in peace, we will always remember her and have her in our minds and spirit. Goodbye Annette: till we meet again in Heaven.
“I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course. I have kept the faith.” Timothy 4:7
