Annette Marie Froehlich
August 27th, 1960 – November 2nd, 2014
Annette Marie Froehlich passed peacefully on Sunday, November 2nd, 2014. She was born in Freeport, IL on August 27th, 1960 and is the sixth child of Ralph and Evelyn Froehlich's eight children. Annette attended Montessori Activity Centres, St. Patrick's Special Education grade school and graduated from Scecina Memorial High School in 1979. She then participated in the Noble day program and learned how to work in the community, working at Butler University and Olive Garden.
Annette was a beacon in her family and taught them about love, patience and understanding through her contagious laughter and heartwarming smile. She accomplished a great deal during her lifetime as a role model for others with Down syndrome and was very active in the community. Annette was a Special Olympian and participated in many sports for over 30 years. Special Olympics sports included swimming, diving, track and field, soccer, basketball, volleyball, bowling and softball. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed the sport weekly. Annette was an active member at St. Joan of Arc church and was a Eucharistic Minister there for many years. She enjoyed traveling and visiting family and friends throughout the US and abroad. Annette was also an active member of the Funtastics Club, Hollis Adams Square Dancing group, LDM and SPRED at St. Andrew's. These clubs help Annette share her love of dance and laughter with others. Annette enjoyed going to the Indianapolis 500 parade and weekly meetings where she would dance, bowl, camp, or just laugh with her friends.
Annette loved to learn. Some of her passions included art and photography. If she wasn't in front of the camera, Annette was usually taking photos. She created art with paint, ceramics, and wood. She also enjoyed theater, took acting lessons, and participated as a Jumping Mouse Player. During her time with the Jumping Mouse Players, she performed "Flowers with Algernon" on stage at Indianapolis Repertory Theater. Annette had an incredible way of bringing joy and happiness to everyone around her.
Annette is preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Evelyn Froehlich, and is survived by her siblings Lynn (Dennis) Boone, Ralph (Linda), Jimmie (Kami), Susan (David Ojala), William (Jean), Michael (Julie) and Angi (Ron) Burkard. Annette had twelve nieces and nephews and two great nieces – Eric (Aubrey) Cannon, Sam, Matthew (Natalie) Boone, Ben, Charlie Cannon, Joanna Boone, John Boone, Rachael, Tyler, Simon, Riley and Nicholas. The two great nieces are Saylor Cannon and Madeline Boone. She leaves countless friends in addition to her large family.
Visitation will be held at Flanner & Buchanan, 1305 E. Broad Ripple Ave., Indpls on Saturday, November 8th from 10am – 12 noon. A funeral Mass will follow at 1 PM, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 5692 N. Central Ave., Indpls.
