Anne (Kass) McCain, 88, of Speedway, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2015. She was born in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1927. She was the youngest of seven children born to Samuel and Mary (Kovach) Kass, who had immigrated to Indianapolis via Ellis Island from Greece and Hungary, respectively. Anne attended the settlement school, No. 5, in downtown Indianapolis. After high school, Anne worked downtown at the Indiana Farm Bureau office on South Meridian. Post WWII, Anne met Billy Bob McCain who had served in the U.S. Navy. They married and Bill attended Purdue University on the GI Bill. Bill became an electrical engineer and after some career moves, they returned home and settled in Speedway, Indiana in the 1950's. They had two sons, William Bruce (Donna Nickles) McCain and Mark Robert McCain; and later, three grandchildren; Nicholas (Kristi) McCain, Hillary, and Samuel McCain. Anne's first great-grandchild, born to Nick and Kristi, is due is August. Billy Bob McCain preceded his wife in death in 2004. Anne is also preceded in death by her parents and all of her siblings: Irma, Helen, Irene, John, Mike, and Steve. Anne lovingly devoted her life to her family, pets, and friends and was an accomplished cook, baker, and gardener. She will be remembered with a gathering on Saturday, August 1, 2015, with visitation from 11:00am to 1:00pm at Flanner and Buchanan - Speedway, with funeral services immediately following. Burial will take place in West Ridge Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Speedway Public Library.
