Anna Marie Mccord

April 24, 1920 — July 25, 2021

Sheridan, IN

Anna Marie (Jack) McCord “Jackie”, age 101, born at home on April 24,1920, in Mount Carmel, Indiana, lived a full and abundant life for 36,982 days, then she fell into the loving arms of her Savior and Lord, dying peacefully at home surrounded by family on July 25, 2021.

Anna’s father, Reverend Roy Jack, died when she was 4 months old, leaving her mother Eva Pearl (Barks) and Anna to survive on the kindness of others. When Anna was 8 her mother got remarried to Sylvester Thompson of New Amsterdam.  He was a kind, loving and generous man who owned the general store in this small Ohio river town.  Through every struggle, through every tragedy, every happy moment, every day Anna grew to know God was there, he was holding her. She knew life was a gift, not a promise.

Anna wholeheartedly believed in God, she understood her life had a purpose, which was to love God and to love each other.  Anna freely gave forgiveness to anyone, no strings attached. God had taught her that Love wins.

She went to DePauw University and taught Music at the Indiana School for the Blind for 10 years.  Anna was a member of the Indiana Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star.

Music was a joyful place, it filled Anna’s entire life.  She sang happy songs on her 101st birthday, and sang Amazing Grace when her friend and Son-in Law Joe Hilfiker died. Music was a gift which she cherished her whole life.  Her favorite hobbies were playing cards and crocheting.

Anna loved Jesus and she loved a party, so it was no wonder that Christmas was her favorite time of year.  Anna loved others well and you were better for knowing her.

She married Bruce Elgin McCord in 1951 who preceded her in death in 1966. Anna has always been a person who loved and protected all in her care, who listened without judgement, reflecting God’s grace.  She is survived by Helen Sue (McCord) Partlow, Nancy Bruce (McCord) & Dave Schultz, Roy Bruce & Doris (Martin) McCord, Adrian Lee McCord, Cecil Ray & Rebecca (Fertig) McCord, and Tammy Lynn (McCord) Hilfiker.

In her lifetime, besides her children, she would love 16 Grandchildren, 27 Great Grandchildren, and 4 Great Great Grandchildren.

Anna leaves behind faith, hope and love, but the greatest of these is Love.

Rusty Kennedy, who is presiding at Anna’s service, has a worship service and ministry. Anna enjoyed going to his services on Sunday mornings at Pinheads Bowling Alley on SR 37 in Fishers, Indiana. She would have enjoyed supporting some of his projects, and would encourage her family and friends to do the same, especially if it involves making children happy and giving them hope through the teachings of Jesus Christ. His contact information is [email protected] 317-841-8825.
