Anna Roberta Harmon, 92 of Indianapolis passed away on February 24, 2013. She was born May 5, 1920 in Pittsboro, IN to Ernest and Nora Ridgway Walter. Roberta graduated from Pittsboro High School in 1938 and was the class valedictorian, Central Normal College in 1942 and received her Masters' degree from Butler in 1963. Roberta was an educator for 39 years teaching at Greenfield, Pittsboro, Charlottesville, Ben Davis and retiring in 1985 from Lawrence Central High School where she was the Head Librarian for 22 years. Roberta was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa sorority. Roberta attended Lawrence United Methodist Church. Roberta had many interests including traveling and volunteer work. She conducted walking tours for Landmark and drove for the Red Cross. Roberta was married to Charles Harmon on November 24, 1943 who preceded her in death on December 14, 1974. Roberta was preceded in death by her parents; brother John Walter; son Richard Harmon; daughter-in-law Rebecca Harmon; grandson Jeffrey Harmon; and great-grandson Owen Lovins. She is survived by son David (Sandra Cannon) Harmon; granddaughter Samantha (Kyle) Lovins; granddaughter Abigail (Michael) Homer and great-grandchildren Tyler, Michaela, Vivian, Gwen, Hayden, Sloane, and Kennedy in addition to many good friends. A graveside service will be held 2 pm Friday, March 1, 2013 at K of P Cemetery in Lizton, IN. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are encouraged to the American Heart Association, 6100 W. 96th St. Suite 200, Indianapolis, IN 46278 or the Salvation Army, 3100 N.
