Anna Lou “Ann” Caroline Fischer, nee Kasten, 91, Fishers, Indiana died on October 18, 2023. Ann was born on April 15, 1932, in Hoyleton, Illinois to the late Arthur and Anna (Holle) Kasten. She was a lifelong member of the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church. Throughout her life she participated as a soloist and was active in prayer ministry and senior bible study.


Ann had a beautiful soprano voice and studied at Southern Illinois University under Margorie Lawrence, former Metropolitan Opera Star. She played the role of Susannah in “The Marriage of Figaro” which was also recorded for National Educational Television. She continued her musical studies at Ball State University. She played the role of Maria in “The Sound of Music” for the Muncie Civic Theatre and occasionally sang The National Anthem for Ball State University football games.


Ann was a real estate broker and relocation director for Lunsford Real Estate in Muncie, IN for 25 years. During her career, she won numerous sales awards and loved working with clients. She also enjoyed being a member of Ball State University Wives and Women where she served as president.


Ann along with Wyman, her husband of 68 years, traveled the world. They lived twice in Europe and traveled to places including Alaska, the Middle East, Australia, New Zealand, Cuba and Mexico. In their later years they loved to go with their daughters to Branson, Missouri to attend the Christmas shows.


Ann is survived by her three daughters, Victoria (Frank) Tylman of St. Petersburg, Florida, Kristal (David) Clark and Holly (John) Durbin of Fishers, Indiana; eight grandchildren, Jennifer, Michael, Philip, Anne, Christine, John Paul IV, Jake, Caroline and nine great-grandchildren. She is survived by her brother Curt Kasten. Ann was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dr. Wyman Fischer and by her sister Elsie Redeker.


Our Mom’s greatest joy was being with family and friends. Mom was always the life of the party and we will miss her infectious laugh, vivacious personality and wonderful sense of humor.

The service will be private. Memorials may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran School, 8115 Oaklandon Rd, Indianapolis 46236 or charity of donor’s choice.
