Anna Belle Johnson

Indianapolis, Indiana – Anna Belle Johnson passed away on June 28, 2023. Anna was born on July 31, 1927, to Elmer and Arletta (Atkinson) Booe in Fountain County, Indiana. She was just shy of 96 years old.

Anna was a worker at heart and loved to stay busy. She became a cashier at Haag’s drugstore in Indianapolis. She was there longer than Haag’s themselves, also outlasting Hook’s, and Revco. After retiring, she started and owned Norgetown Cleaners and Laundry, turning the peace she found doing laundry into a full-time business.

When not at work, which was rarely, Anna loved to spend time watching Wheel of Fortune or Carol Burnett, taking Sunday drives, or shopping for her grandchildren. Most of all though Anna was a selfless devotee of her family who she loved and was loved by.

In addition to her parents and siblings, Anna is preceded in death by her daughter Sandra Kohtz.

Anna is survived by her daughter Debra Johnson-Walpole; brother James Graves; grandchildren Leslie Appleby (Kenny), David Walpole (Jessi), Nicholas Walpole (Arianna); great-grandchildren Gwyneth, Daisy, Anabelle, Arya, Danny, Archer, Edyth Rose, Calvin David, and Nash.

Family and friends will gather for visitation on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East (10722 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46229) from 12pm – 2pm with funeral services to follow at 2 pm. Burial will take place at Washington Park East Cemetery immediately following services.
