Ann Helen Milby
79, died August 19, 2013. She was born October 8, 1933 in Steubenville, OH, to Raymond and Mary Yakshevich. She graduated from Steubenville High School "Big Red", then attended Ohio University where she graduated with a Education degree. This is where she met her husband Jack R. Milby. They were united in marriage in 1956 and enjoyed 48 years of marriage before his passing, July 16, 2003. She had a fulfilling teaching career in Ohio and Illinois through 1972.
Ann was an avid gardener and was a member of the Spring Green Garden Club, Carmel, IN for more than 30 years. She was acquitted as a Master Judge with Garden Club of Indiana, Inc., and a member of the Indianapolis Hosta Society, through which she attended the Hosta College. She also participated in many flower design competitions where she won numerous awards.
Ann was very active and enjoyed bowling and golf for several years. She was a member of golf leagues at both Brookshire Golf Club and Hillcrest Country Club, and bowling leagues at Woodland Bowl. She especially enjoyed traveling and was able to travel around the world three times.
Ann was a very artistic person who expressed herself through various activities including sewing, pottery, and painting. She was an active member at Orchard Park Presbyterian Church for over 40 years where she participated as a deacon, Stephen Ministry, and helped in areas such as maintaining the beautiful garden. She sincerely cared about her family, friends, church and community.
Ann is survived by her daughter Susie Milby, sisters Teresa Ensley and Mary Jane Noll, and proceeded in death by her husband Jack R. Milby, mother and father, Mary and Raymond Yakshevich. She was the beloved Aunt to several nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 22nd from 5 to 8 PM, and Friday, August 23rd from 2 to 4 PM and 5 to 8 PM at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Home, 325 East Carmel Drive, Carmel Indiana. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 24th at 10 AM at Orchard Park Presbyterian Church, 1605 East 106th Street, Indianapolis, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, or Orchard Park Presbyterian Church.
