Indianapolis, Indiana – Angela “Angie” (Penna) Kivett, 62, passed away after being comforted by her beloved husband Steve, on April 5, 2024. Angie was born to Larry & Willa (Bennett) Penna on October 12, 1961 in Terre Haute, Indiana.

Angie was a long-time employee of Herff Jones, doing offset printing for them among other responsibilities, and retired after twenty years of service.

Angie loved to travel, especially heading out west with Steve, and could not only play the clarinet, but also the drums and the piano. Her biggest passion though was skydiving.

She and Steve met 38 years ago when she showed up in her own plane, a Piper Cherokee 6, having already been an accomplished private pilot, asking about learning how to skydive. Their relationship blossomed as they shared several hundred skydives together. She earned several skydiving licenses and became an instructor, also Angie created and edited videos for other skydivers culminating in creating the video for the 100th anniversary of the Wright brothers first flight. In Kittyhawk, North Carolina, she, along with many other skydivers, were part of the celebrations. Angie’s’ video was used by national agencies and news outlets in their reporting.

Angie is survived by her husband, Steve Kivett; mother Willa Mae (Bennett) Barksdale; son Steve Kivett II (Shannon); grandchildren Chelsea, Steve “Troy”, and Maddie Kivett; and sister Debra Penna-Fredericks (Mark). Angie was preceded in death by her father Larry Penna and her maternal and paternal grandparents.
