Ms. Angela Rena Cheshier was born December 20, 1972 in Indianapolis, IN, to Steven A. Cheshier and the late Carrie A. Cheshier. At a young age, she was lovely adopted by the late Luther L. Calvert and Cora L. Calvert.
Angela was a proud graduate of Northwest High School, class of 1991, where she excelled in many areas—running track, participating in ROTC, being on the Drill team and playing Cello. During her time in high school, she worked at Methodist Hospital in both the cafeteria and transportation services. Angela then went on to attend Vincennes University, where she graduated 1998, with an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Law. After graduation, she was employed by the Marion County Juvenile Detention Center of Indianapolis, a role where she worked with dedication and commitment.
Angela’s greatest pride and joy was her son, Kendrick Alan Bessix, whom she affectionately called her “#1 son.” Kendrick was her heart, her everything, and she poured all her love and energy into ensuring he had the very best life possible.
At an early age, Angela professed her hope in Christ and was baptized. Angela became a beloved member of First Baptist Church of Bridgeport, where she actively participated in many church activities, including the children’s choir, the junior and adult Usher ministries, Sunday school secretary and church clerk. Angela was also a regular attendee of church summer camp, Vacation Bible School, and any opportunity to deepen her knowledge of the Bible.
Angela had a deep love for life. She enjoyed reading, traveling on “girl trips,” dancing, cooking (LOL), shopping, and most of all, spending time with her son and her extended family. She had an innate ability to make people feel loved cherished. Angela was known for her selflessness—always ensuring that others were okay before taking care of herself. Even in times when she didn’t have much, Angela would give what she could to those in need. Her loving and caring nature will be forever etched in the hearts of all who knew her.
