Angela 'Angie' Cotton-Dearman

June 6, 1972 — October 8, 2013

Angela "Angie" Cotton Dearman 41, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2013. She was born June 6, 1972 to Robert and Jeanette Cotton in Anderson, IN. At the age of twelve she confessed a saving faith in Jesus Christ and united with Anderson Zion Baptist Church. As only a big brother (Terry) would know, Angela has been like an angel for a long time, for she later led him to know Christ. Angela graduated from Anderson High School and went on to Butler University in Indianapolis where, as an all-American, she led the women's basketball team for four years. She graduated with a degree in Education in 1994. After graduation, Angela remained in Indianapolis, teaching at Carmel Clay schools and at JEWEL Christian Academy while a member of Eastern Star Church. It was there she met and, on August 22, 1998, married the love of her life for over 15 years, John Dearman. Shortly after, Angela worked on staff at PEERS Project developing youth leaders until transitioning home to give full-time focus to her family. She served in a variety of ministries while a member of Solid Word Bible Church and later at College Park Church. She enjoyed lots of interests but most of all spending time with family and friends. Angela was a true fighter and courageously battled against breast cancer. God was indeed on her side every step of the way and her hope was in Jesus Christ alone. She always greeted you with a warm, beautiful smile and wasn't afraid to ask were you a part of "Team Jesus". Her unwavering faith was a true encouragement to all those she met and knew as she waved her "Trusting in Him" banner. Angela was a star shining the light of God's love to so many people from a sincere servant heart. Angela's memory and spirit will forever be cherished by those who loved her most: loving father and mother, Robert & Jeanette Cotton; caring brother, Terry Cotton; her devoted husband John Dearman, and her three heartbeats - Jayla, Nicholas and Noah Dearman. Her kind, loving and nurturing ways will be greatly missed by many other relatives and a host of friends. "In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Three Heartbeats Memorial Fund at any PNC Bank."
