Dr. Andrew P. Crowley, Sr.
70, passed away Thursday, June 26, 2014 following a brave battle with Brain Cancer. Andy was born to Roy and Lila (Pool) Crowley on January 21, 1944, in Athens, Georgia.
He graduated from Oconee County High School (1962) and University of Georgia (1966). He received his Masters of Divinity from Emory University (1969) and his Doctorate of Ministry from Lexington Theological Seminary (1976).
In 1967, Andy married his beloved wife Belinda Herring Crowley in Maxeys, Georgia. Last December they celebrated 46 wonderful years of marriage.
Faith and Church have always been important in Andy's life. He was raised in the First Christian Church of Watkinsville, Georgia. He served as student pastor at Loganville Christian Church and Maxeys Christian Church. He served as pastor of Chapel Christian Church in Winder, Georgia.
Andy has lived in Indianapolis since 1974 and served as minister of Speedway Christian Church for 32 years (1974-2006). He served as Field Educator at Christian Theological Seminary for many years and served the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) at the regional and general levels.
He loved spending time with family and friends, woodworking, home improvement projects, traveling, reading, puzzles and learning.
Andy leaves a living legacy of love with so many people including his wife, Belinda Herring Crowley, daughter Jenni (Rusty), son Drew, and a number of grandchildren, nieces, nephews and Godchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Speedway Christian Church or the Rock Eagle 4-H Camp (Counselor Training Program). A Memorial service will be held at Speedway Christian Church on Sunday, July 13 at 3:00pm with visitation from 2:00-3:00pm. At a later time when we carry Andy's cremains to Georgia, we will hold a Graveside Service at the Watkinsville Cemetery.
