In Loving Memory of Andy Gilmore
Husband. Dad. Grandpapa. Friend. Fisherman. Encourager. Believer.
Andrew “Andy” Robert Gilmore, 73, of Noblesville, Indiana, passed away on June 4, 2025.
He was a devoted husband, father, and grandpapa. He is survived by his wife, Joni Gilmore; his three children: William Scott Gilmore (Petra), Jennifer Michelle French (Stan), and Evan Thomas Gilmore (Megan); and his beloved grandchildren: Lauren, Hayley, Morgan, Luke, Elliot, and Isabella. He is also survived by his sister, Roberta Jane Brown (Kirk).
Andy Gilmore loved life—and he lived it out loud in sunrises, dad jokes, back porch conversations, and quiet faith.
Born in Pensacola, Florida, Andy never lost that Gulf Coast warmth in his bones. He brought that same warmth to every room, every encounter, and every bike ride around Morse Reservoir, where he often paused to marvel at nature. As he often said, “God’s creation is truly magnificent.” Nature wasn’t just scenery for Andy—it was Scripture written in sky and soil.
He adored his wife Joni, whom he married in 1982 after being introduced by their friend, Mouse. Their marriage was a long love story filled with admiration, devotion, and faith. After moving back to Indiana in 1997, Andy continued his quiet tradition of service—building a white picket fence for Joni by hand, serving as a church deacon or elder, volunteering, and regularly hosting missionaries in their home, though he was always willing to make time for fun and travel, and was always down for a road trip with Joni and friends.
To his kids and grandkids, Andy was a rock—faithful, silly, wise, and present. He marked every milestone with love and pride. When his granddaughter Morgan joined her high school’s homecoming court, he beamed, “You can tell she has ‘Gilmore’ genetics, right?!” He delighted in each one’s accomplishments, told stories, and shared their lives with a warmth that wrapped around you.
He was also a proud Auburn Tigers fan, a loyalty passed down from his father who once taught there, and carried forward through his daughter Jenny, son-in-law Stan, and granddaughters Lauren and Hayley, all of whom have attended Auburn. On game days, you could count on him to keep up with the score, and win or lose, he cheered with the same steady spirit he brought to everything else in life.
Throughout his journey with cancer, Andy remained gracious, faithful, and full of quiet strength. The cancer treatment center became sacred ground—where he built friendships, made nurses laugh, and walked others through their own dark valleys. Even on the hardest days, he expressed gratitude to God, saying: “He is a good, good father.”
One of his favorite verses was from Habakkuk 3:17-18, about choosing joy in the midst of hardship. And that’s exactly what he did. From watching hummingbirds on the patio to declaring war on backyard chipmunks who ate his tomatoes… from long infusion days filled with golf tournaments and jokes—Andy never stopped finding beauty, humor, or meaning in everyday moments.
He believed deeply in the goodness of God, the power of prayer, and the hope of heaven. As he once wrote, “Thank you Lord for your love and kindness that exceeds all expectations. You are truly Holy Forever.”
He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and light-hearted wisdom. And if you listen closely on a quiet evening, you might just hear him saying, “Get outside. Feel the breeze. Tell someone you love them. And trust the One who made you.”
He also leaves behind that white picket fence he built in the backyard, still standing. A hundred little reminders that he was here—that he built things to last.
Andy didn’t live for attention. He lived for meaning. For faith. For family. And for the quiet joy of knowing that even on the hardest days, it would all be okay.
Now we can rejoice, with Andy, that he is fully healed, fully free, and fully home.
His body will be laid to rest at Flanner Buchanan - Hamilton Memorial Park in Westfield, Indiana.
