Andrew Scott Carter, 54, passed away November 13, 2025, with his mother by his side. Born in Indianapolis, IN on December 31, 1970, to Jerry and Mary (McGinnis) Carter, Andrew’s unique spark ushered in the new year. Andrew studied at Pike High School (Class of 1989) and Ball State University. Andrew was a loving son, grandson, nephew and cousin. He spent his career working in sales.
Andrew held a deep appreciation for the smaller and intricate details of life, noticing and loving the things others would miss. This appreciation for detail manifested into Andrew’s deep love for animals, music, reading, and all things fashion: clothes, shoes, socks, and of course accessories. With his one-of-a-kind style and electric personality Andrew became the life of the party. His humor and wit being to blame for many eruptions of laughter. Andrew loved his friends and family unapologetically, forming deep personal connections with everyone he met. He was known for giving amazing hugs and comforting others with his kind presence.
Andrew is preceded in death by his father Jerry Carter, paternal grandparents Joe and Martha Carter, and maternal grandparents Hobert & Alice McGinnis. Andrew is survived by his Mother Mary Carter, beloved chinchilla Otis, uncle Bill McGinnis, cousins Bryan (Barb) McGinnis and Melinda Scheidt, and countless devoted friends.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Saturday, December 6 at John Knox Presbyterian Church at 3000 N High School Rd. Indianapolis IN 46224, with services to follow at noon.
