Anderson (Anders) Jeffrey Maresh, 11, of Noblesville passed away December 19, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born October 27, 2011, in Lafayette, the son of Jeffrey and Emily (Koonce) Maresh.
He is survived by his loving parents, Jeff and Emily Maresh; adoring big sisters, Lauren and Ella; maternal grandfather, Thomas Koonce; paternal grandparents, Dr. James and Inge Maresh; aunts and uncles, Kimberley (Chris) Baerns and their sons Blake and Declan, Trent (Stephanie) Maresh and their children Everett and Vivienne, and Mary (Joshua) Rassi and their children Abraham, Eliza, and Everett. He was preceded in passing by his maternal grandmother, Susan Koonce.
Anders was a special blessing not only to his family but to anyone he encountered. In their neighborhood in Lafayette, it was not unusual to find a friend sitting with Anders taking in the latest movie or incorporating him into their game of hide & seek. As honoree at the Purdue University, Butler University and Noblesville Dance Marathons for Riley Children’s Hospital, he found a special place in many students’ hearts, so much so that he was even invited to be the ring bearer in a special Purdue couple’s wedding. When difficult times hit and Anders would find himself getting special treatment at Riley, he was adored by the nursing staff and his doctors, who went above and beyond in their care for their favorite “Superman.”
As an avid sports fan, Anders loved all sports and never missed an opportunity to watch a game. Basketball was his number one love—as an infant, a basketball game would be the only thing that would soothe him. He and Jeff spent hours watching his favorite team, the Purdue Boilermakers. However, when the opportunity would present itself, Anders had no problem giving up watching a basketball game to sit on the sidelines of his sisters’ soccer games or band competitions and cheer them to victory, including a state soccer championship this fall. Though he preferred the comforts of home, Anders spared no opportunity to make lasting memories with his family, traveling to soccer games, his Papa’s condo on the beach, Disney World, and most recently, New York City to experience the opening of his late-great-grandfather’s gallery exhibition.
Lauren and Ella adored Anders and he, in return, thought his sisters hung the moon, and in some cases, they actually did by decorating his room with planets and stars for him to gaze at while he drifted off to sleep at night. The bond he shared with his siblings was unbreakable. As siblings do, they enjoyed the chance to tease him or annoy him with their unmatched singing skills and jokes, but they were always the first to give to him whenever he was in need. He was and always will be their Bubbas.
As the apple of their eyes, Anderson brought so much light and love to Emily and Jeff. The love and joy they felt from him was a blessing any parent is lucky to have experienced. He savored the moments he had snuggling with Emily while watching a Disney movie or sitting with Jeff to cheer on the Black and Gold. His eyes would light up when they walked into a room—you knew that he never questioned their unfailing love for him and the safety, security and comfort that they brought to him every day of his life.
The light that Anders brought to so many will not fade as his love, life and memory will be cherished by so many whose lives he touched and changed forever.
