Amya E. Haas of Carmel, IN, passed away unexpectedly on July 24, 2025, at the age of 22. She was born in St. Louis, MO, on February 16, 2003, to mother, Cari Haas.
Amya lived her life with great spirit and joy and was a bright light to everyone who knew her well. A born athlete, she had been working as a Lifeguard and Swim Instructor at the Goldfish Swim School in Carmel, and she loved helping children develop their skills in the water. Recently, she was preparing to pursue a career as a pharmacy technician. Her true passion, however, was art, in particular painting. From an early age her creative side was on full display, and over the years she had progressed from painting as just a hobby to selling a lot of her work. Her flair for color and style was always something to admire.
She is survived by loving parents, David & Tanya Haas; siblings, Andrew Haas, Kelly & Jarrod Hutchings, Jack Haas, Thomas Haas, Charles Haas, and William Foster; Grandparents James & Kathleen Haas, and Dave & Melanie Braukman; Aunts and Uncles Amy & Kevin Yusman and Dave & Sarah Braukman; and cousins Benjamin & Alex Yusman, Mikayla, Tiana, Madison & Jeremiah Haas, and Nora & Meredith Braukman, along with countless other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her mother Cari Haas.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Sea Turtle Conservancy, Brain Trauma Foundation, or the American Red Cross.
