Amy Sue Peterson

Amy Sue Cunningham Peterson, 51, passed away May 15, 2026, at home in Westfield, surrounded by her family.

Amy was born on December 3, 1974, to William and Janet (Hunsucker) Cunningham. In sixth grade, Amy won the Decatur Township spelling bee. Amy graduated from Decatur Central in 1993. In high school, Amy played varsity basketball for all four years. She was on Decatur Central’s golf team and helped them win their first sectional. She went to Indiana University and graduated in 1997 with a degree in Physical Therapy. She was a pediatric physical therapist for 29 years.

Amy is preceded in death by her sisters, Faith and Hope; grandparents, Arthur and Elma Hunsucker, and Morris and Rosemary Burge; and several cousins.

Amy is survived by her parents, Janet and Bill Cunningham; brother, David Cunningham; children Grace Peterson, Jack Peterson; as well as many loving cousins, friends, and family members.

Visitation for Amy will be from 5 pm until 8 pm, Thursday, May 21, 2026, at Flanner Buchanan - Hamilton Memorial Park (Prairie Waters), 4180 Westfield Road, Westfield, IN 46062. Additional Visitation will be from 10 am until 11 am on Friday, May 22, 2026, with a Funeral Service immediately following at 11 am. Burial will be at Hamilton Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the children’s Trust.
