Indianapolis, Indiana – Amber Elizabeth Mason, 61, passed away on October 22, 2025. A devoted mother and loving woman, Amber will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Amber was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on September 9, 1964, to parents Frederick and Nancy (Herndon) Uyeda. Shortly after, her family moved her to Attica, Indiana in southern Indiana. While in high school and college, she played basketball and volleyball, loving competition. She received her bachelor’s degree from Indiana State University and her master’s degree from Indiana University. She worked for many years as a social worker for Community Hospitals, assisting those in need. A true planner and problem solver, she made good use of her skills for the public.
After the birth of her first child, Dylan, Amber devoted herself to her children. A true caretaker and mother, she sacrificed for her kids making sure they never went without and that they knew how much she loved and supported them. She made every holiday special for them, making goodie baskets and taking them out for special dinners. The glue that held their family together, she saw both sides to every story and was the strongest woman in the world. One of her favorite ways to show that devotion was collecting and wearing her mother themed jewelry, much of it with her children’s birthstones.
Amber found joy in a variety of activities whether alone or with her children. She was a longtime volunteer for multiple organizations, including her children’s schools, so she could stay involved in their academics. She also loved thrifting, going to craft fairs, spending time with her cats, and the movies; a particular favorite being the Oceans 11 series. Amber was a woman of faith as well, finding comfort and strength in the Bible and her love of Christ.
Amber is preceded in death by her father, Frederick Uyeda.
She is survived by her mother, Nancy Uyeda; children Dylan Mason (Hailee Herman), Emma Mason (Neem Galbreath), Ashley Wallace (Jordan Alexander), and Olivia Wallace; brother Jason Uyeda, as well as grandchildren Sebastian Mason and Elyza Galbreath.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025, at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East (10722 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46229) from 12 pm to 4 pm. Funeral services will be held at 4 pm.
