Alma Colleen Ragland (Walls), 81, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away April 1, 2019. She was born August 29, 1937 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Cortes and Dorothy Walls.
Colleen, as most knew her, was born and raised in Indianapolis and never moved too far away from her roots. She attended Warren Central High School and was very active in church. It was there she met the love of her life, Harold Ragland, at only 14 years old. The two married March 30, 1956. They spent 52 beautiful years together raising their 6 children; they remained deeply in love at the time of Harold’s passing in June of 2009. Colleen retired from IU Health in the late 1980s where she served for many years as a medical records clerk. She loved babies, especially her 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She also loved art and was a talented artist herself, particularly in drawing. Family remembers her as an amazing mother, sister, grandmother, and friend; she was loving, generous, and always happy. Though her passing leaves an empty space in the hearts of those who were blessed enough to meet her, peace can be found in knowing Colleen was spiritual and loved Jesus, we will all see her again one day.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Cortes and Dorothy; loving husband, Harold Ragland; daughters, Vikki Mudd, Sherri Rodriguez, and Kristi Lane; brother, Larry Walls. Surviving to cherish her memory are children Terry Ragland, Jerry Ragland, Angie (Bill) Whitley; brothers, Fred (Mary) Walls, Garry (Pam) Walls; sister-in-law, Sherry Walls; 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; Phyllis Fitzwater, Colleen’s best friend since childhood; as well as a host of extended family members and friends.
