Allen Scrougham, 86, of Indianapolis, IN, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, July 26, 2021. He was born on January 9, 1935, in Brown County, IN to the late Muncie and Fern (Chitwood) Scrougham.
He married Sadie Hanstad on October 14, 1961. The two shared 51 full years together raising two daughters, road-tripping and enjoying time with family and friends, until her passing in 2012. Allen joined the Navy in 1953, on the USS Aludra, where he barbered. In 1958, he received his license and forever became “Al the Barber,” spending most of his career at the Southside Barber Shop.
Allen will be greatly missed by his daughters, Kelli Riley of Indianapolis, IN and Kara (Ted) Henderson of San Francisco, CA; grandsons, Andrew and Brett Riley of Indianapolis, IN; brothers, Earl and Gerald Scrougham (Nashville, IN) and sister, Joyce Everling (Morgantown, IN).
Allen was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife and three brothers, Carl, Harold and Richard Scrougham.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 2, 2021, from 4-8:00 PM at Flanner Buchanan— Washington Park East. A private graveside service will take place at Washington Park East Cemetery followed by military honors. Masks and social distancing are strongly encouraged for everyone’s safety.

Al leaves behind countless stories, a good sense of humor and a deep respect for nature. To that end, please consider a memorial contribution to the National Forest Foundation in lieu of flowers.
