Allen Harry Sprout
83, Indianapolis, passed away March 25, 2011. Allen served in the Merchant Marines and was drafted in to the U.S Army’s 82nd Airborne Division during WWII and was recalled during the Korean conflict, where he was a prisoner of war for 6 ½ months. Allen was a printer by trade, retiring from White Arts Printing in 1993. Allen loved doing things for his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Allen is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Mary Maxine; daughter, Susan McGowen; grandchildren, Clarence (wife, Lisa) McGowen Jr. and Regina (husband, David) Castleberry; great grandchildren, Bridgette McGowen, Kara Castleberry, Joshua McGowen and Nathan McGowen; sister, Dorothy Sprout and brother, Richard Sprout. He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Bessie Sprout and a sister, Ruth Sprout. Services for Allen will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center-Washington Park East, with visitation from Noon until the time of the service on Wednesday. Entombment will be in Washington Park East Cemetery.
