Alleda C. Smith, of Franklin, IN and formerly of Indianapolis, passed away January 30, 2016 at the United Methodist Home in Franklin, Indiana. Alleda was born in St. Louis, MO the daughter of the late Roy Lee and Birchie May (White) Northerner. She worked for JC Penney for many years. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Harry Handrick in 1939 and her husband L.B Smith in 1985.
Survivors include her children, Charles Handrick and his wife Brenda of Knightstown, IN and Pamela S. Biivens and her husband Gene of Fairland, IN; grandchildren, Cheryl Seibert, Michael Bivens, Kevin Handrick, Kenna Birch, Kemberly Zieles and Kay Thorne; great grandchildren, Kylee Bivens, Jarryd Perdue, Douglass Birch, Adrienne Bennet, Stefan Zieles, Hollie Zieles, Taylor Zieles, Nickolas Handrick, Connor Thorne, Anneliese Thorne and Sophie Thorne.
Visitation for Alleda will be held from Noon to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at Flanner and Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN., with funeral services at 2:00 PM., with Rev. David Owens officiating. Entombment will be in Washington Park East Cemetery.
