Alice Miller Stalcup
Alice was born at Methodist Hospital at 2:25 AM on December 27, 1934 as the only child to Edward Garland and Helen Weisehahn Miller, and spent her childhood at 944 N Layman St. in Indianapolis.
She graduated from Howe High School in 1952 and attended IU Bloomington for one year. She was also a member of Eastern Star and attended modeling school in Indianapolis.
Alice has worked at Pearson's Furniture Outlet in downtown Indianapolis followed by a position at Indiana Bell Telephone Company's Repair Department.
She married Robert K. Stalcup Jr. On August 5, 1956 and lived at 406 Temple St., where her daughter Susan and son Robert were born. By 1963 she and her family moved to 5826 E 44th St, where her 2nd son Ken was born. After her children were attending school full-time, she worked as a pre-school teacher with Kinderdance, taught Sunday School at Devington Baptist, and worked as a nurses aid at several health care facilities.
She had a vigorous, sustained avocation as a volunteer worker at Eagle Creek Park Nature Center and "Second Hand Prose" at the Indianapolis Library Services Center. Her major commitment was to the Indianapolis Children's Museum where, in 2001, she was named Volunteer of the Year after amassing over 600 hours of service.
She is survived by her daughter Susan, sons Robert and Ken, grandchildren Billy, Leeann, Katie, Robert, Michael, and Daniel, and three grandsons, Daniel, Devin, and Ryan.
A memorial service for Alice will be held at the Robin Run Village Chapel, 5354 W. 62nd St., Saturday September 7th, 2013 at 2 pm.
