Alfred Elmore Jr.

Alfred Elmore, Jr. 89, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away July 16, 2022. He was born in Aberdeen, Kentucky on March 11, 1933, to the late Alfred and Bennie (Bratcher) Elmore. Alfred worked as a Mechanic and in General Maintenance for RCA Records, Indiana University, and the Metropolitan School District – Decatur Township, before retiring.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army, with honors, during the Korean War, where he received the Combat Infantry Badge for service while under enemy fire. Alfred was a Lifetime Member of The American Legion in Grundy, Virginia. He enjoyed fishing, farming, tinkering, being a handyman, working crossword puzzles, spending time with his grandchildren, reading his bible, and was a very active member of the Mooresville Church of Christ. He was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
Alfred is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Lynne (Bornman) Elmore; his children: Leona Ruth Elmore- Meadows, Karen Lynne (Timothy) Switzer, David Wayne Elmore, Steven Mitchell Elmore, and daughter-in-law, Kathy Ryan. Alfred’s many grandchildren are: Cari, Shonda, Kyle, Amber, and Nathan. The great grandchildren are: Taylor, Jaxon, Chelsea, Tommi, Damian, William, Kierra, and Averie. The great-great grandchildren are: Claire, Morrison and Halen. Alfred’s siblings are Orna Kessler, Ida Carnes and, Tommy Haven. Besides his parents, Alfred was preceded in death by his son Richard Thomas Elmore; and two half-brothers Howard Elmore and Darrell Haven.
