Albert St. Clair Lowe, 90 of Carmel, passed away Saturday, October 16, 2010 at his home. Albert was born October 24, 1919 in Indianapolis to the late St. Clair and Lena Rebenack Low. He graduated from Butler University with degrees in Chemistry and Pharmacy. After completing certification in the Chemistry of Powder and Explosives from Purdue University’s Engineering Defense Training Program in 1941, he worked at DuPont making gunpowder for our troops in WWII. Albert had a long career in retail pharmacy at Lobraico’s Broad Ripple Pharmacy. He retired in 1983 from Richard Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis as a Hospital Pharmacist.
Albert was a member of the North Park Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Millersville York Rite, Order of the Eastern Star and Murat Shrine, where he was a member of the Model Railroad Club and the “Hillbillies”. He was an adopted member of his wife’s professional sorority, Lambda Kappa Sigma. An avid Ham Radio operator, his call sign was K9SWV. Albert was an enthusiastic supporter of the Hamilton County Parks and Recreation Department, being a sponsor of the Cool Creek Park concert series and the Strawtown Koteewi Park fall festival. He was a Rose Level supporter of Coxhall Gardens.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm Saturday, October 23 in Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center-Carmel, where family and friends are invited to call from 11:00 am until the time of the service.
Albert was the widower of Adele Lobraico Lowe, to whom he was married over 50 years. He is survived by his daughter, Judith Campbell, MD (husband, Peter Witteveld); grandchildren, Christiaan R. (wife, Jennifer) Campbell, Kevin L. (companion, Stacey Friend) Campbell, Geoffrey F. (wife, Kathryn) Campbell; great grandchildren, Ashley Adele, Holyn, Maccailein, Vaughan and Eva; long-time caregiver, Joanne Denson; several nieces and nephews. Albert was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Robert Campbell.
