Albert H. Uminger, 82 of Fishers, passed away Sunday, May 13, 2012. Al was born October 27, 1929 in Teaneck, NJ to the late Herman and Martha Hess Uminger.
Al joined RCA at the age of 18. He enlisted in the US Army and after completing Officer's Candidate School, he served as a 2nd Lieutenant. He was discharged as a First Lieutenant. After his military career, he attended Fairleigh Dickinson University, graduating in 1960 with an Electrical Engineering Degree, Cum Laude. He received his MBA from Butler University in 1974. Al retired from General Electric in 1998.
Al enjoyed traveling with Evelyn and spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed investment activities and tennis. Al was an active volunteer in many organizations including the Hamilton County Republican Party.
Friends and family are invited to gather from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Wednesday, May 16 at Flanner and Buchanan-Carmel. Private family services will be held on Thursday at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
Albert is survived by his wife, Evelyn; children, Curt (wife, Gail), Glenn (wife, Susan) and Sheryl Uminger; grandchildren, Kristen (husband, Jake) Eisterhold, Kyle Uminger, Ross Uminger, Grant Uminger, Brett Uminger; sister, Janet Rudenjak.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hamilton County Humane Society.
