Born on November 15, 1956 in Martinsville, Indiana, Alan was the son of Margrit and LeRoy Figg. He graduated from Martinsville High School and attended Indiana University.
Alan lived a life defined by faith, friendship, humor and service to others. A longtime member of Saint Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Carmel, Indiana, he was deeply grounded in his faith and carried that spirit into every aspect of his life. He never met a stranger and had a remarkable ability to make people feel welcomed, valued and at ease. Whether through his quick wit, generous heart or willingness to lend a helping hand, Alan left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Professionally, Alan's career reflected his outgoing personality and entrepreneurial spirit. Over the years he worked in a variety of fields, from being a Subway franchisee to advertising and media sales, ultimately concluding his career in sales at WTHR-TV. Even in retirement, Alan's love of meeting and connecting with people continued as he enjoyed driving part-time for Lyft.
Alan was an avid cook who found joy in bringing people together around food, laughter and conversation. He loved golf and cheering on the Hoosiers and Colts. His wicked sense of humor and ability to brighten someone's day will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his mother, Margrit Figg; his wife, Patty (England); daughter, Evangeline (Nazif Selimovic); granddaughter, Marley; sisters, Karen Russell (Tim) and Debbie Orr (Kevin); stepchildren, Katie DeVier (Josh), and Matthew England (Alyssa); neices and nephews, along with many extended family members and dear friends.
